This book was written in 3rd person.
Main Characters
Charlie- Charlie is the main charactor of the book. He may not be the best, or the brightest boy, but he is special. He has a dog name Oscar, and a little brother, also known as his best friend, named Sam. When they are just looking for something to do on a night that their mother isn't home, they get into some trouble and are in a termindous car accident; taking the life of Sam. While in recovery, Charlie in a coma, thinking that he is communicating with Sam. When Charlie discovers that Sam isn't going to live, he realises that he was granted a special gift, not only did God give him his life back, but he can still communicate with Sam's spitit. He can talk to him, see him, and even play catch with him! Charlie and Sam previously made a deal, or a "pack", that they would play catch together every evening. If one of
them were late or didn't bother to show up, the deal was off. On the
night of Sam's funeral, Charlie and Sam met up in the woods and
decided to continue their pack every evening at sundown in the
Waterside Cemetary Woods. When Charlie was dating Becca,
however, he didn't tell her about his gift, so she thought it was strange
that he had to go to the cemetary every single night at a certain time,
so some nights, Charlie decided to be a few minutes late. One
evening, he actually got there after dark! This is when he realized that
Sam was starting to fade and he was begining to lose his special gift.
Charlie added to the plot of the story because he is the main character and without him, the story would be based on Sam and his life before and after he died.
(3rd Person)
Sam- Sam is Charlie's younger brother, also known as his best friend. They do everything together... including going to a huge game quite away from their house when their mother is out of town. On the way back, they notice that the moon looks closer to them, and Charlie tells Sam that it is an optical Illusion. Sam asks "What's that"? And Charlie says "An optical illusion is when your eyes play tricks on you". Then Charlie desided to "race" the moon to "catch up with it". They were going aross a bridge and all of a sudden...BOOM lights went out and the car went rolling. Sam and Charlie had a deal to play catch together every night. On the night of Sam's funeral, Charlie and him meet up in the woods and decide that they are going to keep there promise. The boys meet every evening just before sundown to play a game of catch.
Sam added to the plot because without him, the story would just be based on Charlie and how he "died" in a car accident and Florio shocked him back to life.
